Kinmelo (“Kinmelo,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information.

This Privacy Policy explains how information is collected, used, stored, processed, disclosed, and protected when you use the Kinmelo mobile application, related services, websites, and features (collectively, the “Services”).

Kinmelo combines music discovery and playback features with social discovery, matching, messaging, rooms, nearby discovery, playlists, and related community features.

By using Kinmelo, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

The information we collect depends on the features you use and the permissions you grant.

1.1 Account and Authentication Information

Kinmelo may support:

Google Sign-In;
email and password accounts;
anonymous or guest authentication; and
linking an anonymous account to a Google or email-based account.

Depending on the authentication method, we may process:

Firebase user ID;
email address;
Google account identifier;
basic Google account information made available through Google Sign-In;
authentication status;
account creation and update timestamps; and
account security and verification information.

Authentication is primarily provided through Google Firebase Authentication.

Passwords submitted for email authentication are handled by the authentication provider. Kinmelo does not store your password in readable/plain-text form.

Anonymous users are also assigned a unique account identifier so that application features can function.

2. Profile and Social Discovery Information

If you use Kinmelo’s profile, matching, discovery, or social features, we may collect information you provide, including:

nickname;
profile biography;
profile photo;
date of birth;
displayed age;
gender;
optional self-described gender information;
country;
preferred music genres;
favorite artists;
friendship or dating discovery preferences;
preferred age range;
preferred genders for discovery;
preferred discovery distance;
country discovery preference;
notification preferences;
nearby discovery preference; and
other profile settings you voluntarily provide.

Some of this information may be considered sensitive or special-category information under the laws of certain jurisdictions.

We process such information only when necessary to provide features you intentionally choose to use.

Your nickname, profile photo, displayed age, gender where applicable, biography, music interests, and certain other profile information may be visible to other Kinmelo users when you participate in discovery, matching, rooms, or other social features.

3. Age and Date of Birth

Kinmelo is intended for adults.

Users of Kinmelo’s social, discovery, matching, messaging, and related community features must be at least 18 years old.

We may request your date of birth to determine whether you meet this age requirement.

We may retain:

the date of birth submitted for age verification;
the calculated age;
the date the verification occurred; and
information showing that the age requirement was satisfied.

Kinmelo does not knowingly allow children under 18 to use adult social and matching features.

If we learn that an underage person has provided information contrary to these requirements, we may restrict or delete the relevant account and information.

4. Location Information

Kinmelo may request access to your device location when you voluntarily enable features such as Nearby Discovery.

With your permission, we may process:

latitude;
longitude;
location accuracy;
time the location was captured; and
derived geographic information used to calculate distance between users.

Precise coordinates are used by our systems to determine nearby results.

Kinmelo is designed to show other users generalized distance information rather than your exact latitude and longitude.

Location access is optional.

You can deny or revoke location permission through your device settings. Certain nearby features may not function without location access.

Short-lived location records are designed to expire automatically. Current server configuration generally retains submitted nearby-location records for up to approximately 48 hours, unless a shorter period applies or retention is necessary for security, legal, or technical reasons.

5. Music and Listening Information

When you use Kinmelo’s music features, we may process information such as:

tracks you play;
track and artist identifiers;
track titles;
artist names;
genre information;
listening timestamps;
listening sessions;
favorites;
recently played music;
playlists;
playlist names;
playlist artwork;
playlist track information;
music discovery activity;
preferred artists and genres;
music compatibility information; and
aggregated listening statistics.

We use this information to:

provide music functionality;
maintain playlists and favorites;
synchronize supported music-library information;
improve recommendations;
create regional or global music charts;
calculate music compatibility;
provide music-based matching;
improve discovery features; and
prevent artificial manipulation of charts or recommendations.

Certain individual listening-event records are configured to expire after approximately 14 days.

Aggregated music preferences and music profile information may remain associated with your account while your account remains active or until it is deleted or otherwise no longer required.

6. Music Stored on Your Device

Kinmelo may request permission to access audio files stored on your Android device.

This permission is used to:

discover audio available on your device;
display your local music library; and
play music you choose from your device.

Granting media access does not by itself mean that the underlying audio files are uploaded to Kinmelo’s servers.

Certain metadata associated with favorites, playlists, or tracks may be synchronized with your Kinmelo account when cloud synchronization features are used.

Local device file URIs or paths that are unnecessary for cloud synchronization are intended to remain on the device.

You can revoke media permissions through Android settings.

7. Spotify Playlist Features and External Music Services

Kinmelo may allow you to enter or import information from a public Spotify playlist.

When you use this feature, Kinmelo may process:

the playlist URL or identifier;
playlist title;
playlist owner name;
artwork;
track titles;
artist names;
track identifiers; and
other publicly available playlist metadata.

Kinmelo may communicate with Spotify or other music metadata/content services to retrieve information required to provide these features.

Using a public Spotify playlist import feature does not necessarily require you to provide Kinmelo with your Spotify account password.

External music providers process information according to their own privacy policies and terms.

8. Messages, Matches, Rooms, and User-Generated Content

When you use Kinmelo’s social features, we may process:

likes and matching activity;
music-based interactions;
match identifiers;
conversation identifiers;
messages;
message delivery/read status;
room membership;
room messages;
room participation;
typing indicators;
presence or online status;
block lists;
reports;
report reasons;
report descriptions; and
other content you choose to submit.

Messages and content you send to other users are made available to the intended recipients or room participants.

Do not submit sensitive information in messages or public/community areas unless you are comfortable sharing it with the relevant recipient or audience.

9. Safety, Blocking, and Reports

Kinmelo provides safety tools such as blocking and reporting.

When you report another user or content, we may collect:

reporting user’s account identifier;
reported user’s account identifier;
report category;
reported content or context;
related message, room, profile, or conversation identifier;
optional report details;
report status; and
timestamps.

We use this data to:

investigate abuse;
prevent harassment;
detect fraud and scams;
enforce community rules;
protect users;
respond to legal obligations; and
prevent repeated misuse of Kinmelo.

Safety-related records may be retained longer than ordinary application data where necessary to protect users, investigate abuse, establish or defend legal claims, prevent repeat violations, or comply with applicable law.

If an account is deleted, identifiers in certain safety or abuse records may be anonymized instead of deleting the entire underlying safety record.

10. Photos and Uploaded Media

When you choose to upload a profile image or other supported media, Kinmelo may process:

the selected image;
file metadata;
storage path;
image dimensions and technical information; and
information necessary to associate the image with your account.

Uploaded media may be stored using cloud storage infrastructure such as Firebase Storage.

We do not access your entire photo library merely because you select one image through the system photo picker.

11. Notifications

If you enable push notifications, Kinmelo may process:

Firebase Cloud Messaging registration token;
application installation identifier;
device platform;
application locale;
notification preferences;
notification category; and
notification delivery information.

These identifiers are used to deliver notifications such as:

new messages;
social interactions;
matches;
music-related events;
room activity; and
service or security notifications.

Notification device registrations are periodically refreshed or removed. Current systems may retain inactive notification device registrations for up to approximately 120 days before automatic expiration.

You can disable notifications through Kinmelo settings or Android system settings.

12. Automatically Collected Technical Information

When you use Kinmelo, we and our service providers may automatically collect certain technical information, including:

device type;
operating system and version;
application version;
application installation identifiers;
IP address;
network information;
language and locale;
application events;
session information;
crash information;
stack traces;
diagnostic information;
performance information;
ANR information;
application state at the time of an error; and
security and integrity signals.

We use this information for:

operation of the Services;
security;
fraud prevention;
troubleshooting;
crash analysis;
performance monitoring;
analytics;
reliability improvements; and
product development.

13. Firebase and Google Services

Kinmelo uses or may use Google and Firebase services including:

Firebase Authentication;
Cloud Firestore;
Firebase Realtime Database;
Firebase Storage;
Cloud Functions for Firebase;
Firebase Cloud Messaging;
Firebase Analytics;
Firebase Crashlytics;
Firebase Performance Monitoring;
Firebase Remote Config;
Firebase App Check;
Google Play Integrity-related services;
Google Sign-In / Google Identity services; and
Google Mobile Ads / AdMob.

These services may process device, application, account, diagnostic, security, usage, advertising, and network information according to their respective configurations and privacy policies.

14. Analytics

Kinmelo may use analytics technologies such as Firebase Analytics to understand how users interact with the application.

Analytics information may include:

application launches;
screen interactions;
feature usage;
user interactions;
session information;
device/application information;
general demographic or geographic information where provided by the analytics service; and
event information generated by Kinmelo.

Analytics helps us:

understand application usage;
improve features;
diagnose problems;
measure product performance; and
improve the user experience.

15. Crash Reporting and Performance Monitoring

Kinmelo may use Firebase Crashlytics and Firebase Performance Monitoring.

These services may automatically process information including:

crash logs;
stack traces;
ANR reports;
device metadata;
application state;
installation identifiers;
network performance information;
application start-up performance; and
other diagnostic information.

This information is used to identify bugs, crashes, freezes, performance problems, and security issues.

16. Advertising

Kinmelo may display advertisements through Google AdMob / Google Mobile Ads and may use other advertising partners in the future.

Advertising technology may automatically collect or process information including:

IP address;
advertising identifiers;
App Set ID or similar identifiers;
device identifiers;
application interactions;
ad impressions;
ad clicks;
video views;
application launch activity;
diagnostic information;
device information;
approximate location derived from IP address; and
advertising-related information.

Such information may be used for:

displaying advertisements;
contextual advertising;
personalized advertising where permitted;
measuring ad performance;
analytics;
frequency capping;
preventing invalid traffic;
fraud prevention; and
advertising security.

Advertising partners may receive information directly from your device through their SDKs.

Kinmelo does not sell personal information for money.

However, depending on your jurisdiction and your advertising consent choices, disclosure of identifiers or activity to advertising partners for personalized or cross-context behavioral advertising may legally be considered “sharing,” “targeted advertising,” or a similar concept.

Where required by applicable law, Kinmelo will provide consent or privacy controls regarding personalized advertising.

Users may also have advertising privacy controls available through Android or their Google account.

If consent is not granted where consent is legally required, Kinmelo may use limited, non-personalized, or contextual advertising where supported.

17. Purposes for Which We Use Information

We may use collected information to:

create and authenticate accounts;
provide Kinmelo’s core functionality;
create and display profiles;
provide music playback and discovery;
maintain favorites and playlists;
synchronize supported account information;
calculate music compatibility;
provide matches;
enable nearby discovery;
provide messaging and rooms;
send notifications;
provide recommendations;
personalize the user experience;
maintain regional and global music charts;
detect abuse;
prevent fraud;
protect users;
enforce our Terms and Community Guidelines;
investigate reports;
maintain application security;
detect unauthorized activity;
diagnose crashes and performance issues;
conduct analytics;
display and measure advertising;
respond to support requests;
comply with law; and
establish, exercise, or defend legal rights.

18. Legal Bases for Processing

Where laws such as the GDPR or UK GDPR apply, we may rely on one or more of the following legal bases:

Performance of a Contract

Processing necessary to provide Kinmelo and features you request.

Consent

For activities where consent is required, such as certain location access, personalized advertising, or optional permissions.

Legitimate Interests

For purposes such as:

improving Kinmelo;
maintaining security;
preventing fraud;
protecting users;
measuring service performance; and
maintaining service reliability.

We balance these interests against your privacy rights where required.

Legal Obligations

Processing necessary to comply with applicable laws, valid legal requests, or regulatory obligations.

Protection of Users and Legal Claims

Processing necessary to protect Kinmelo, users, or third parties and to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.

19. How We Share Information

We may disclose information to the following categories of recipients.

Service Providers

Companies that provide infrastructure and services necessary to operate Kinmelo, including:

cloud hosting;
authentication;
database services;
storage;
analytics;
crash reporting;
performance monitoring;
notifications;
security;
advertising; and
content or music metadata services.

Other Kinmelo Users

Information you intentionally make available through your profile, matching, rooms, messaging, or social features may be shared with other users as necessary to provide those features.

Advertising Partners

Advertising-related information may be processed by Google AdMob and other advertising or mediation partners used by Kinmelo.

Legal and Safety Disclosures

Information may be disclosed when reasonably necessary to:

comply with applicable law;
respond to lawful legal process;
enforce our agreements;
investigate fraud or abuse;
protect the safety of users;
protect Kinmelo’s rights or property; or
address security threats.

Business Transactions

If Kinmelo is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, restructuring, sale of assets, or similar transaction, information may be transferred as part of that transaction subject to applicable law.

20. Data Retention

We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, subject to technical, safety, contractual, and legal requirements.

Retention periods depend on the type of information.

Examples of current short-lived server retention configurations include:

nearby discovery cursors: approximately 15 minutes;
location records: approximately 48 hours;
temporary music interaction records: approximately 8 days for certain features;
individual listening-event records: approximately 14 days;
certain notification-processing and idempotency records: approximately 30 days;
inactive notification-device registrations: approximately 120 days; and
completed account-deletion request records: approximately 90 days.

Account profile data, playlists, favorites, music profiles, messages, and other account information may be retained while an account remains active.

Certain aggregate or anonymized statistics may be retained where they no longer reasonably identify an individual.

Safety, fraud-prevention, legal, accounting, or regulatory records may be retained for longer periods where reasonably necessary or legally required.

21. Account Deletion

Kinmelo provides an account deletion function within the application.

You can request deletion through the account/settings section of Kinmelo.

For security, we may require recent authentication before processing deletion.

When an account deletion request is processed, Kinmelo is designed to delete or remove account-associated information including, where applicable:

authentication account;
user profile;
discovery profile;
match preferences;
stored location;
music profile;
favorites and synchronized playlists;
profile photos;
playlist artwork;
notification registrations;
matches;
active conversation membership;
room memberships;
social interaction records;
blocks associated with the account; and
other directly associated account records.

Messages previously sent by the deleted account may be deleted, stripped of their content, or anonymized so that conversation integrity and the rights of other participants can be maintained.

Safety reports or records relating to abuse may also be retained in anonymized form where necessary for safety, fraud prevention, legal compliance, or the protection of other users.

A limited deletion-processing record may be retained temporarily to confirm and audit completion of the deletion request.

Deletion from active systems does not always result in immediate removal from encrypted backups. Backup copies may remain until they are overwritten or expire under normal backup retention procedures.

22. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights relating to your personal information.

These may include the right to:

access your information;
correct inaccurate information;
delete information;
obtain a copy of certain information;
request data portability;
restrict certain processing;
object to certain processing;
withdraw consent;
opt out of targeted or personalized advertising where applicable;
opt out of certain disclosures that legally constitute “sharing”;
complain to an applicable data protection authority; and
appeal certain privacy decisions where applicable law provides such a right.

We will not discriminate against you for exercising legally protected privacy rights.

We may need to verify your identity before completing certain requests.

23. European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Switzerland

Where applicable European privacy laws apply, users may have rights under the GDPR, UK GDPR, or equivalent legislation.

Where required, Kinmelo will obtain consent before using technologies requiring consent, including certain forms of personalized advertising.

You may withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent. Withdrawal does not affect processing that occurred lawfully before consent was withdrawn.

You may also contact your local supervisory authority.

24. United States Privacy Rights

Residents of certain U.S. states may have additional privacy rights.

Depending on applicable law, these may include rights to:

know categories of personal information collected;
access specific personal information;
correct information;
request deletion;
obtain portable copies of information;
opt out of targeted advertising;
opt out of certain forms of sharing;
limit certain processing of sensitive personal information; and
appeal a denied privacy request.

Kinmelo does not sell personal information for monetary payment.

Use of advertising partners may constitute “sharing” or targeted advertising under some U.S. state privacy laws depending on how advertising is configured.

Where required, appropriate opt-out controls will be provided.

25. International Data Transfers

Kinmelo operates as a global service.

Your information may be processed in countries other than the country where you live, including countries where our service providers maintain infrastructure.

Privacy laws in those countries may differ from the laws of your jurisdiction.

Where required by applicable law, we or our service providers use appropriate mechanisms and safeguards for international transfers of personal information.

26. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect information.

Measures may include:

encrypted network connections;
authenticated access controls;
Firebase security rules;
server-side authorization;
application integrity verification;
rate limiting;
restricted database access;
secure cloud infrastructure;
monitoring; and
abuse-prevention systems.

No electronic transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Users are responsible for protecting access to their own accounts and devices.

27. Permissions

Depending on the features you use, Kinmelo may request Android permissions including:

Internet and Network Access

Required to communicate with Kinmelo and third-party online services.

Notifications

Used to send messages, matches, social, music, security, and service notifications.

Music and Audio Access

Used to discover and play audio stored on your device.

Location

Used only when you enable location-dependent features such as nearby discovery.

Photos

Kinmelo may use Android’s system photo picker to allow you to select a profile image or other supported media.

You can manage permissions through your Android device settings.

Disabling a permission may disable the feature that requires it.

28. Automated Matching and Recommendations

Kinmelo may use automated calculations to rank or recommend users, music, and content.

Signals may include:

music preferences;
artist overlap;
track overlap;
genre similarity;
listening activity;
discovery preferences;
geographic distance;
age preferences;
gender preferences; and
other compatibility factors.

These systems are intended to personalize discovery and matching.

They are not used to make decisions producing legal or similarly significant effects about you.

29. Third-Party Services and Links

Kinmelo may contain content, links, or functionality provided by third parties.

Third parties may include services such as:

Google;
Firebase;
Google AdMob;
Spotify; and
other music, infrastructure, security, analytics, or advertising providers.

When you interact directly with third-party services, their privacy policies and terms may apply.

Kinmelo is not responsible for the independent privacy practices of third parties.

30. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when:

Kinmelo features change;
data practices change;
advertising or analytics technologies change;
service providers change; or
laws and regulations require updates.

When we make material changes, we may provide notice through the application, website, or another appropriate method.

The “Last Updated” date at the top of this policy identifies the most recent revision.

Continued use of Kinmelo after an updated policy becomes effective is subject to applicable law and, where necessary, additional consent.
