Gemini + Find Hub: Android Can Now Remember Where You Put Things

Gemini can now remember where you put physical items by saving their location in Android Find Hub. Google introduced the feature in the September Android Drop as a way to keep track of things like spare keys, passports and other objects you normally would not attach a tracker tag to.

This is different from locating a Bluetooth tracker or lost phone. You are explicitly telling Gemini where you placed an item, and Gemini stores that remembered location in Find Hub for later retrieval.

How the feature works

Google’s example is simple: tell Gemini something like, “Remember in Find Hub that I put my passport in my bedroom drawer.” Gemini can save that location and optionally include a photo.

Later, you can ask Gemini where the item is or open the remembered-items area in Find Hub.

What kinds of items make sense?

• passports
• spare keys
• documents
• small tools
• seasonal items
• backup cards or adapters
• anything you store somewhere specific but do not track electronically

The feature is most useful when the location is stable and specific enough to be meaningful later.

Android version requirement

Google says remembered items in Find Hub require Android 16 or newer and are available in countries where both Gemini and Find Hub are supported.

That means a phone can support Gemini but still miss this feature if Find Hub support or the rollout is not available for the account or country.

This does not turn an object into a live tracker

If you save “passport is in bedroom drawer,” Android is remembering the information you provided. It is not continuously measuring the passport’s physical position.

If someone moves the object later and you do not update the remembered location, Gemini can only return the saved information.

Why optional photos matter

Google says users can attach an optional photo when saving the location. A photo can add useful context when the text description is ambiguous—for example, which storage box, shelf or drawer contains the item.

Privacy considerations

Remembered locations can reveal information about your home, documents and valuables. Avoid saving more detail than you need, especially for highly sensitive items.

• confirm your phone runs Android 16 or newer
