YouTube Shopping Store Setup in 2026: Connect Shopify, Tag Products & Sell

A practical YouTube Shopping own-store guide for 2026 covering supported platforms, connecting Shopify, linking multiple stores, product review and tagging products in videos, Shorts and live streams.

Hands editing an online store representing YouTube Shopping and ecommerce setup

YouTube Shopping lets eligible creators connect an official store to the channel and surface products across videos, Shorts, live streams and channel shopping surfaces.

Who can use YouTube Shopping?

The Shopping tab appears in YouTube Studio only when the channel meets YouTube’s eligibility requirements. Eligibility depends on YPP status, location, content type and other program rules.

Connect your own store

In YouTube Studio, open Earn and then Shopping. If your channel is eligible, choose Get Started or Connect new store and follow the setup instructions for a supported platform.

Supported shopping platforms

YouTube currently supports several ecommerce platforms and retailers, including:

  • Shopify
  • FourthWall
  • SHOPLINE
  • Spreadshop
  • Spring
  • TeePublic
  • Wix
  • Selected regional platforms such as BASE, Cafe24, Marpple Shop and Suzuri

Availability can vary by country, so always check the current official list before choosing a platform.

Connecting Shopify

For Shopify, YouTube requires the relevant Google/YouTube and Shopify accounts to have the necessary admin access. The setup runs through Shopify’s Google & YouTube app.

After the connection is completed, YouTube and Google review products for compliance with YouTube Shopping and Google Merchant Center policies.

Product review can take a few business days

YouTube says newly connected store products are reviewed for policy compliance and that this process typically takes a few business days. Individual products can be disapproved if they do not meet requirements.

You can connect more than one store

YouTube currently lets eligible creators connect multiple stores. Products from more than one connected store can appear in the same video, Short or live stream.

Where products can appear

Eligible creators can surface connected-store products in:

  • Channel store surfaces
  • Video descriptions and product shelves
  • Long-form videos
  • Shorts
  • Live streams

Own-store Shopping vs affiliate Shopping

These are different monetization models. Own-store Shopping promotes products you sell. The YouTube Shopping affiliate program lets eligible creators tag products from participating third-party brands and potentially earn commission.

For the affiliate model, see our YouTube Shopping Affiliate Program guide.

How viewers buy

When viewers click a connected-store product, YouTube can open the creator’s official store in an in-app browser. Playback behavior can differ by format. For example, long-form videos and live streams can continue in a mini-player while a viewer browses products, while Shorts do not continue playing in the same way during store browsing.

Shopping analytics

For supported integrations, YouTube Analytics can show Shopping performance and sales-related data. YouTube notes that its reporting may differ from the ecommerce platform because attribution, returns, privacy settings and tracking methods are not identical.

Store setup checklist

  1. Confirm Shopping eligibility in YouTube Studio.
  2. Choose a supported platform.
  3. Use accounts with the required admin permissions.
  4. Connect the store through the official workflow.
  5. Wait for product policy review.
  6. Tag only products that are relevant to the content.
  7. Compare YouTube and store-platform analytics before making conclusions.
