YouTube Live is getting a major set of creator tools across late 2026 and 2027. The new features focus on collaboration, fan funding, reactions and global audiences.
YouTube says more than 600 million logged-in viewers watched live content, including archives, on an average day in August 2026.
1. Watch With expands beyond livestreams
YouTube’s Watch With system lets a creator react live to another video while viewers watch the original content and the reaction together.
The feature was first tested around major live broadcasts. YouTube now says it is expanding Watch With to include eligible long-form videos as well as livestreams, with rollout beginning later in 2026.
Creators can use a React live action on eligible content.
Who earns revenue in a Watch With stream?
YouTube says the reacting creator keeps the live ad revenue and fan funding generated by their reaction stream. The original creator receives attribution and additional view credit in YouTube Studio.
The original creator also controls whether their videos can be reacted to through the feature.
2. Go Live Together gets creator matchmaking
Go Live Together already allows co-streaming, but YouTube is expanding it with creator discovery.
Beginning in early 2027, creators will be able to browse people who are already live or join a quick-match queue that can pair them with similar creators.
This can make collaborations easier for smaller creators who do not already have a large network of potential guests.
3. Live showdowns turn fan funding into a competition
Live showdowns are interactive head-to-head competitions between co-hosts. Viewers can send chats, gifts and Super Chats that move each creator’s score in real time.
YouTube says showdowns are coming in 2027 and are designed to create a more active fan-funding experience rather than a passive donation screen.
4. Live auto dubbing
YouTube is also testing Live auto dubbing, which translates a creator’s speech in real time so viewers can listen in their preferred language.
The pilot is expected to begin in early 2027.
YouTube says more than 40% of live watch time comes from viewers outside a creator’s home country, which explains why real-time language translation is a major priority for live video.
What is available now vs later?
- Watch With expansion: rollout begins later in 2026.
- Creator matchmaking: planned for early 2027.
- Live showdowns: planned for 2027.
- Live auto dubbing: pilot planned for early 2027.
Creators should avoid presenting the 2027 tools as already available to every channel.
How creators can prepare
- Review your live moderation settings.
- Check whether your content is eligible for reaction features.
- Build repeatable live formats that work with guests.
- Prepare clear collaboration rules before co-streaming with unfamiliar creators.
- Use subtitles and clear speech now if you want future dubbing systems to work well.
